SPSS at UNI

The University of Northern Iowa has a 150 concurrent-user network license of SPSS for Windows (Base), with the Advanced Models, Regression Models, and Tables add-on modules.

The latest, patched version of SPSS for Windows (supported on campus): 15.0.1.1 (3 Jul 2007)
 

Availability

SPSS for Windows is currently installed in the Student Computer Centers (Public Labs),
such as in LIB 114 and MAU 32.

Below is a list of college-maintained computer labs also known to have SPSS for Windows installed:

• CBB 224 and CBB 236 (CBA)
• LNG 213 (CHFA)
• SEC 206 and WRC 154 (COE)
• WRT 110, WRT 112, and WRT 339 (CNS)
• SAB 223 and SAB 227 (CSBS)
  [Note: Sabin Hall is closed for renovation and will not be open again until January 2011.]

Faculty and staff should contact their respective IT support staff, for installations on their UNI office computers.
 

Troubleshooting

Getting licensing errors right after launching SPSS?

Almost always, the problem is firewall software blocking the SPSS program (spsswin.exe) from connecting across the network to the on-campus SPSS license manager.

Important: Only computers on campus (or connected via the VPN Client) will be able to access the SPSS license manager.
 

Purchasing

Students wanting their own licenses of SPSS should consider purchasing (or leasing) the SPSS Graduate Pack.

Faculty have the option to purchase and download a 1-year license of the SPSS Faculty Pack. The SPSS Faculty Pack combines the full SPSS Base product, with no limitations, plus an additional 12 add-on modules for extended functionality: Advanced Models, Regression Models, Conjoint, Categories, Tables, Trends, Exact Tests, Maps, Complex Samples, Missing Values, Data Validation, and Classification Trees.
